Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: August 2026 · v1.0 · For all Bookify Malta users
In short
Bookify Malta is built for real salons, barbers, and beauty businesses to manage genuine client appointments. Do not use it for anything illegal, fake, or abusive. This policy sets out what is unacceptable and what we may do if we find a violation.
1. Illegal activity
You must not use Bookify for any activity that violates Maltese or EU law. This includes, but is not limited to, handling the proceeds of crime, money laundering, operating an unlicensed business that requires a licence, or providing services that are illegal in Malta.
2. Fake or fraudulent bookings
Do not create fake client profiles, submit false bookings, fabricate appointment history, or manipulate your calendar to mislead clients, staff, or Bookify. This includes creating dummy accounts to test or circumvent plan limitations.
3. Unsolicited SMS marketing
You must not use Bookify’s SMS reminder feature to send unsolicited marketing messages. Appointment reminders are for transactional purposes only. Sending promotional content, offers, or re-engagement messages without the recipient’s prior opt-in consent violates Maltese ePrivacy law and this policy.
4. Account sharing and credential abuse
- Do not share your login credentials with anyone outside your business.
- Do not resell, sublicense, or lease your Bookify account to another business.
- Do not attempt to access another salon’s account, data, or booking page without authorisation.
- Staff accounts should be created for genuine employees of your salon, not for external contractors or third parties unless they are directly involved in your business operations.
5. Scraping, reverse engineering, and automated access
- Do not scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from Bookify, whether through automated scripts, bots, or manual copying at scale.
- Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Bookify platform.
- Do not send excessive automated requests that degrade platform performance for other users. Rate limits apply to sensitive endpoints and we may throttle or block traffic that exceeds reasonable usage.
6. Prohibited content in client records and notes
- Do not upload or store content that is defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or abusive — including in client notes, service descriptions, or staff profiles.
- Do not store excessive or unnecessary special-category data (health details, medical diagnoses, disability information) in client records. Keep notes operational and minimal.
- Do not upload third-party personal data (e.g. contact lists purchased or scraped from elsewhere) into your client database.
- Do not store copyright-infringing content or content that violates someone else’s intellectual property rights.
7. Unlicensed or unregulated services
If your business requires a professional licence, health registration, or regulatory approval to operate in Malta (e.g. tattooing, certain aesthetic treatments), you are responsible for holding and maintaining that licence. Bookify does not verify professional licences and is not responsible for ensuring your compliance with industry regulations. However, we may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are operating without required authorisation.
8. Circumventing plan limitations
Do not create multiple free accounts to avoid paying for a plan that matches your usage, or otherwise attempt to circumvent the feature limits of your current plan tier.
9. What Bookify may do about violations
If we determine that you have violated this Acceptable Use Policy, we may take any of the following actions, depending on the severity and circumstances:
- Warning: We may contact you, describe the violation, and request that you stop or correct it within a reasonable timeframe.
- Feature restriction: We may temporarily disable a specific feature (e.g. SMS reminders) while we investigate.
- Suspension: For serious or repeated violations, we may suspend your account. We will notify you of the reason unless notification would compromise an investigation or violate the law.
- Termination: For severe violations — including illegal activity, fraud, harassment, or deliberate abuse — we may terminate your account without prior notice.
If your account is suspended or terminated, we will, where possible, provide you with an opportunity to export your data. This does not apply where the suspension or termination relates to ongoing fraud or illegal activity.
10. Appeals
If you believe a restriction, suspension, or termination was applied in error, you may appeal by emailing legal@bookify.mt. We will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. The appeals process does not apply to restrictions imposed by law enforcement or regulatory order.
11. Reporting abuse
If you encounter content or behaviour on Bookify that you believe violates this policy, please report it to legal@bookify.mt. We review every report and will take appropriate action.
