Accessibility Statement
Last updated: August 2026 · v1.0
In short
We are committed to making Bookify Malta accessible to as many people as possible, including salon owners, staff, and clients with disabilities. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA and actively work to fix barriers. This page describes our current status, known limitations, and how to report issues.
1. Our commitment
Bookify Malta is designed for everyday use by salon owners, staff, and their clients. We want everyone to be able to manage bookings, view calendars, and interact with the platform regardless of ability. We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our target standard, in line with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the Maltese Equal Opportunities (Persons with Disability) Act.
2. Current status
Bookify Malta is operated by a small team. We have not yet commissioned a formal third-party accessibility audit. Our current approach is:
- Manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers
- Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy
- Colour contrast checks on key surfaces
- Form labels and ARIA attributes where appropriate
- Fixing reported barriers as they are identified
We aim to commission a formal accessibility audit as the platform matures. This statement will be updated with the results.
3. What we currently support
- Keyboard navigation: Core website and dashboard flows support keyboard navigation. Focus indicators are visible on interactive elements.
- Heading hierarchy: Pages use a single H1 and logical heading levels (H2, H3) for screen-reader navigation.
- Form labels: All form inputs have associated labels. Error messages are displayed inline with the relevant field.
- Colour contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios on the main surfaces tested. We use dark-background pages with high-contrast text.
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alt text. Decorative elements are marked as such where appropriate.
- Responsive layout: The platform works across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes, with content reflowing at all breakpoints.
- Links: Links use descriptive text rather than generic labels such as "click here."
4. Known limitations
We are actively working to address these. If any of these barriers affect your ability to use Bookify, please contact us and we will prioritise a fix.
- Calendar day-view interactions: Some advanced calendar interactions in the calendar day view (drag-and-drop or click-to-select) currently have limited keyboard support. We are working on keyboard-accessible alternatives.
- Client booking page customisation: Salon owners can customise their booking page. We provide accessible defaults, but custom colour choices made by salon owners may reduce contrast on their individual booking pages.
- Dashboard charts and graphs: Revenue charts and analytics visualisations currently rely on colour to convey information. We are adding text-based summaries and data tables as alternatives.
- Third-party content: The WordPress plugin page and any embedded content may not fully meet our accessibility targets.
- Print stylesheets: We have not yet implemented dedicated print stylesheets for legal and policy pages.
5. Screen-reader support
We test with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. The booking flow (select service → choose date/time → enter details → submit) has been tested with VoiceOver and is operable. If you use a different screen reader and encounter issues, please let us know so we can test and fix the specific combination.
6. Reporting accessibility barriers
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on Bookify Malta, please tell us:
- Email: info@bookify.mt (subject: "Accessibility")
- Phone: +356 7956 1688
- WhatsApp: via our message page
Please describe the barrier, the page or feature where you encountered it, and the device and browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge reports within 3 working days and provide a fix or workaround within 14 days where the issue is within our control. If you are not satisfied with our response, see our Complaints & Escalation policy.
7. Enforcement and complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) in Malta at crpd.org.mt.
8. Review and updates
This statement was last reviewed in August 2026. We review it at least annually and update it whenever we make significant changes to the platform or fix a reported barrier.
